Ruben Amorim will need to demand more from one key first-team Manchester United player against Athletic Club after the 1-1 draw against Bournemouth.
Bournemouth hosted Manchester United and the Cherries were leading the Red Devils for a large portion of the Premier League match last Sunday.
Antoine Semenyo put Bournemouth 1-0 up against United in the first half before Andoni Iraola’s men were reduced to 10 men at the Vitality Stadium.
Evanilson was sent off in the second half for the Cherries before struggling United striker Rasmus Hojlund netted a crucial equaliser deep into stoppage time.
United and Bournemouth both walked away with a Premier League point apiece last weekend after the Red Devils salvaged a 1-1 draw at the Vitality Stadium.
The Red Devils languish in 14th place in the Premier League table and United have only four league matches left in their woeful 2024-25 campaign.
Ruben Amorim’s men have not won in their last five league matches and the Red Devils are tipped for their worst finish in the Premier League era.
United have already had to switch their attention away from the Premier League ahead of resuming their crucial Europa League campaign on Thursday.

Ruben Amorim needs Alejandro Garnacho to be the Man Utd difference-maker vs Athletic Club after his display vs Bournemouth
The Red Devils are through to the semi-finals of the Europa League after Manchester United knocked Ligue 1 side Lyon out of the quarter-finals.
United will now meet Athletic Club in the Europa League semi-finals and the first-leg clash will be played at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao on 1st May.
The Europa League is United’s only hope of returning to the Champions League next season and a viable route back to European football for the 2025-26 campaign.
United lifting the trophy would also be a major boost for Ruben Amorim’s reign at Old Trafford after a lacklustre 2024-25 campaign, despite his arrival in 2024.
Alejandro Garnacho played the full 90 minutes against Bournemouth and the 20-year-old Spain-born attacker had a relatively disappointing showing for United.
The Red Devils star has scored 10 times in 52 matches across all competitions in the 2024-25 season and United fans have been disappointed at times with his displays.
Alejandro Garnacho was deployed as one of the two No 10s in Amorim’s tactical system for United and the Argentina international lacked the end product again.
United have performed poorly in the final third this season and Garnacho must show more quality with his finishing against Athletic Club when the stakes are so high.
What Ruben Amorim spotted in Man Utd’s recent Premier League performance vs Bournemouth
Speaking after the 1-1 scoreline at the Vitality Stadium, United manager Amorim suggested that he saw the Red Devils improve as the match continued last Sunday.
“It was tough in the beginning, high intensity, pressure from the opponent,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“We had some difficulties there but then during the game we were improving. We had our opportunities, we didn’t score.
“But then in the second half especially, we had a sense of we push the opponent to their own half, we create situations, and we manage to save a point.
“But I think if you look at the game, I think we lost two points.”
United and Athletic Club’s first-leg Europa League semi-final tie in Spain is slated for an 8pm kick-off time in the UK on Thursday.
