The lack of goals scored by Manchester United this season will be one of Erik ten Hag’s biggest concerns.
Only Southampton have scored fewer goals than Manchester United’s five in the Premier League so far this season.
It has contributed to Manchester United’s worst-ever start to a Premier League season with the Red Devils slumped down in 14th in the table.

United have missed far too many big chances this season. Only Arsenal and Tottenham (18) have missed more big chances than United’s 17.
The lack of clinical finishing in front of goal has cost United valuable points already this season, and the finger is being pointed at striker duo Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

Man United need goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee
The first transfer deal completed by Ineos this summer was the £36m signing of Joshua Zirkzee from Bologna.
The 23-year-old arrived to replace Anthony Martial and bolster United’s very thin striker department.
Zirkzee scored on his United debut against Fulham but has failed to add to his goal tally in the following nine appearances.
Ten Hag had no option but to start the season with Zirkzee as his main striker after Hojlund suffered an injury in pre-season.
The Dane, who scored 16 goals in all competitions last season, is now back available and scored in his first start against Porto after returning to fitness.
However, Hojlund has also struggled since returning to the first-team and a glance at his stats since joining United suggests he is not the long-term answer to the lack of goals.
Stat proves Rasmus Hojlund has been wasteful at Man United
Hojlund has become a fan favourite at Old Trafford and scoring 16 in his debut season was a big success.
He is now part of a two-man strike partnership with Zirkzee but both of United’s forwards are young and still need time to develop and work on their flaws.
As revealed by WhoScored, stats show that Hojlund has been one of the most wasteful strikers in the Premier League since his £64m move to United in 2023.
Hojlund has only converted 23.5 percent of his big chances into goals since the start of last season.
Compared to other Premier League players who have been presented with over 15 chances, only Darwin Nunez and Keane Lewis-Potter have a worse conversion rate.
