Manchester United’s youngsters once again impressed as they spearheaded a 5-0 victory over Rosenborg, with Michael Carrick finding one surprise breakout.
Michael Carrick once again fielded plenty of academy players as Manchester United thrashed Rosenborg 5-0 thanks to the youngsters who scored four of the five goals, with three assists from the kids too.
Shea Lacey was a standout, while Harry Amass also nailed down his position as a left-back option for United this coming campaign. Jacob Devaney was great, while Dan Gore impressed in midfield.
But Carrick was also treated to a breakout performance by another really exciting talent who could present an interesting conundrum to the head coach.
Which Manchester United academy star impressed you the most vs Rosenborg?
Shea Lacey, Jacob Devaney, Harry Amass and Ethan Williams all scored, but there were so many impressive performances!

Jaydan Kamason is a surprise threat to Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui
While Amass was sensational on the left, Jaydan Kamason was equally impressive for United against Rosenborg at right-back.
Kamason was among the standouts of the second-half and it was a performance that academy watchers have long known him capable of, but he’s now done it at a senior level and in front of Carrick.
After Leny Yoro was great in the first-half, Kamason replaced him at the break and was equally eye-catching in a different way. Kamason was electric down the right and claimed two assists.
Kamason was beating the Rosenborg left-back with ease and both assists were identical as he pulled his cross back across the goal to first Amass and then Ethan Williams at the back post to make it 4-0 and then 5-0.
The creativity and final third threat from Kamason is exactly what made him so exciting in the academy and if he translates this fluidly to the first-team, against better opposition, then Carrick could have an undeniable star ready to breakthrough.
This will be nightmare material for both Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui who will be watching Kamason burst onto the scene and if he continues to perform this well, he will be a shock threat to the pair.
To suggest Kamason will unseat Dalot as Carrick’s starter this summer would be naive, but with Mazraoui already shown to not exactly be in favour, the teenager could seriously compete to take the role of second choice in the position, before applying pressure to Dalot.
What is your INSTANT REACTION as Manchester United beat Rosenborg 5-0
Who impressed you most and why?
Kamason has grabbed his golden opportunity for Manchester United with both hands
Long before pre-season arrived, I knew Kamason would get his chance with both Dalot and Mazraoui at the World Cup and he has taken this opportunity and absolutely ran with it.
He looks so assured in his ability, on the ball and off it, while notching two assists just proves how special a talent he is at right-back.
So far, Kamason couldn’t have done much more to prove to Carrick that he deserving of a first team role this summer and beyond. What makes the breakthrough interesting is also the timing, with lots of rumours suggesting Mazraoui could be in demand this summer from clubs like AC Milan.
Kamason should get more chances against Atletico Madrid, and if he manages to also impress there, it will cement his emergence as a potential option for Carrick to consider.
But even if he isn’t deemed quite ready, this strong pre-season should earn Kamason a positive loan at the very least.
