Man Utd’s own Geovany Quenda deserves opportunity to show he can take the leap like Harry Amass

Despite needing new signings, Manchester United can solve several issues this summer by dipping into the academy.

When a problem arises at a football club like Manchester United, often the instinct is to throw money at the issue and in doing so everything will be fixed.

This has not always been the case for the Red Devils, with players like Anthony Elanga, Alvaro Fernandez and Scott McTominay being sold, only for this decision to later be regretted.

So with these regrets in the recent past, this summer Ruben Amorim should be looking internally for solutions in positions which aren’t being prioritised with the transfer budget.

This could result in Radek Vitek being given a chance to challenge Andre Onana in goal with the position unlikely to have an arrival right now. Meanwhile, Shea Lacey could establish himself as a number 10 option and Sekou Kone in the midfield is very exciting.

However, at right wing-back, United may have a ready-made talent who can help Amorim forget one missed signing.

Jaydan Kamason can be Manchester United’s Geovany Quenda solution

United have a long list of target positions this summer, with right wing-back among the areas Ineos want to strengthen.

However, United wanted Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP prior to the teenage sensation picking Chelsea instead as he didn’t want to play as a wing-back, so instead went to a club where he probably struggles to play due to the sheer number of options they have.

Amorim will have been very keen to bring the 18-year-old to Old Trafford, however, he will soon forget about Quenda if he gives Jaydan Kamason a chance.

After a brilliant season with the academy, Kamason’s sights will be locked on making his first-team debut during the 2025-26 campaign, and he would have the chance to do so during pre-season.

United staff have tipped Kamason to break out under Amorim, and on various occasions, the attacking output has led to comparisons with Quenda. If developed and brought into the first-team properly, Kamason could save United millions which may have been spent on Quenda.

Kamason has evolved into a brilliant attacking full-back which suits him perfectly to step up as a wing-back. At just 18, Kamason could definitely become United’s own Quenda and he will be knocking on the door this summer.

Ruben Amorim should finally give Jaydan Kamason a chance to prove he’s ready

Kamason is right now, in a similar position to Harry Amass was last summer. Coming off a top class season in the academy and now ready to be presented with the challenge of senior football, whether at United or elsewhere.

Last season Kamason would have impressed Amorim with his work rate along with the threat he poses with both goals and assists, which earned him a spot on the United bench more than once.

However, after impressing in a brief post-season tour cameo, Kamason should be in contention to head on the pre-season tour with the first-team.

So with an addition needed, first, Amorim should give youth a try and in particular Kamason who looks tailor made for the demands of the role under the Portuguese head-coach.
