Champions League qualification was secured long ago, but what happened on the final day of the Premier League season could be of huge significance to Man Utd.
The guard wasn’t let down by Man Utd on the final day of the season as they beat Brighton 3-0, with Bruno Fernandes breaking the PL assist record.
Now comes the transfer window, and with that, a number of midfielders on the radar, the chief of them are Aurelien Tchouameni and Elliot Anderson.
Michael Carrick would love what happened on the final day because it could drastically increase the club’s chances of signing either.

Should Manchester United pay £125m for Elliot Anderson?
Reports suggest Nottingham Forest have set a £125m valuation on Elliot Anderson. 💰
Man Utd boosted by Enzo Fernandez
The transfer market is a game of dominoes, which is why it’s pointless to be extremely harsh for failures.
One such domino might have fallen on the final day of the season, as Enzo Fernandez seemed to say goodbye to Chelsea fans.
With their loss to Sunderland, Chelsea have confirmed their absence from all European football next season.
If Fernandez isn’t committed anymore and wants to leave Chelsea, as Fabrizio Romano hinted that he will, then it’s a huge boost for United.
Real Madrid and Man City have been mooted as two possible destinations for Fernandez, and either one opens up the game for United.
If he joins Real Madrid, then it opens the door to signing Aurelien Tchouameni and also keeps Rodri at Man City, thereby warning Anderson that his path at City might not be so simple.
If he joins Man City, then United’s main rival for Anderson goes out of the picture right away, and Rodri’s potential departure thereafter to Madrid could open the door for Tchouameni.
Either way, Fernandez’s departure from Chelsea will make both Anderson and Tchouameni eminently more attainable for Man Utd.
Man Utd can afford to wait on marquee signing
Marquee signings take time to materialise, and that is because there are a lot of moving parts attached.
Pick your DREAM summer midfield rebuild within the reported budgets…
Who is the first name you want?
If United kickstart their midfield rebuild by sharpening the edges first, then it becomes easier to wait for the marquee man to come into the picture.
They already look prepared to strike a deal for Ederson, while West Ham’s relegation makes Mateus Fernandes more gettable.
Once those two players are signed, they can attack the marquee market from a position of strength, and with plenty of money still left in the bank.
At the current rate, they would do well to wait out what happens with Fernandez and go from there.
