The start of Manchester United’s pre-season is still about two weeks away, but Leny Yoro has listened to the judgement calls.

The upcoming season will mark Leny Yoro’s third at Man Utd, since he signed in 2024 as Ineos’ first major marquee signing.

His spell at Old Trafford has been largely up and down, as he’s shown exciting glimpses mixed with a worrying loss of form.

He needs to step up next season, and what he’s been spotted doing before the start of pre-season shows he’s up for the challenge.

Leny Yoro begins individual training

While most of his teammates are at the World Cup, Leny Yoro could have chosen to sit back and rest on his laurels, waiting for the pre-season to begin.

Players do maintain a basic level of fitness in the off-season, but Yoro seems to be going above and beyond, as he’s been spotted putting himself through the paces.

The defender is working with his personal trainer, who posted an image of Yoro running on the football pitch as he undergoes individual training.

A major reason why Yoro hasn’t been able to gain momentum at United is his fitness worries.

If this individual training regime ahead of the pre-season can get him in top shape for the challenges ahead, it will be a huge boost to Man Utd.

Yoro is facing a crucial 2026/27 season at Man Utd

Yoro’s signing was always going to be one with long-term upside, but with two years in the bag, he needs to start making good on his potential.

Rio Ferdinand has always urged patience with Leny Yoro

“He’s a student of the game, he sees his mistakes, he acknowledges his mistakes and he tries to learn from those mistakes.”

United will play in four competitions next season, so Yoro will have plenty of opportunities to impress.

It is crucial that he takes those chances with both hands and becomes a staple of Man Utd’s defence, because that’s what the club would have envisioned when they beat Real Madrid to his signing.

That hasn’t happened yet, partly due to injuries and partly due to an adaptation period in England.

The adaptation reason won’t fly anymore after two years in the league, and he looks determined to shake off injury worries by working hard in the off-season.

His trajectory next season could decide United’s chances of success.
