Manchester United have not had much luck this season, in many departments.
The on-pitch antics have been woeful, both under Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim. The Red Devils currently sit 13th in the Premier League table after another home loss to Crystal Palace on Sunday.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |
| 12 | 24 | 7 | 9 | 8 | 28 | 30 | -2 | 30 | |
| 13 | 24 | 8 | 5 | 11 | 28 | 34 | -6 | 29 | |
| 14 | 24 | 8 | 3 | 13 | 48 | 37 | 11 | 27 |
The financial situation at United has also caused issues. Amorim would have liked to have been active in the transfer market, but as the window nears a close, it’s looking increasingly likely they’ll be more outgoings than incomings at Old Trafford.
A potential proble, given the recent news about Lisandro Martinez after the Palace clash.

Lisandro Martinez looks to be out for the season
Alongside the brutal 2-0 defeat at Old Trafford, Amorim was handed a misery compiler in the form of a fresh injury for Martinez.
The Argentine collided with Ismaila Sarr just after the 80-minute mark, and looked in immediate discomfort. He was then stretchered off in front of the home crowd.
Amorim admitted Martinez’s injury looked a ‘serious one’ after the match – and now a fresh update indicates the Portuguese was bang on the money.
It appears he gas suffered significant damage to his knee, with reports now stating that Martinez could miss the rest of the season. A problem, with Amorim’s system relying on three centre-backs.
With the sheer amount of games the Red Devils still face this season, rotation is necessary, and the only fit defenders currently are Matthijs de Ligt, Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro, Noussair Mazrouai and the newly aquired Ayden Heaven.
Oh, and Victor Lindelof, who appears to now be of importance to Manchester United.

Victor Lindelof is now an option for Ruben Amorim
Lindelof has been linked with a move away from Manchester United, but with the fresh Martinez injury – the Swede may come back into the frame.
Lindelof has played just nine times this season, with 339 minutes accumulated. Only 46 mins have come under Manchester United’s new head coach, Amorim.
| Competition | Games | Goals | Yellow Cards | Red Cards | Minutes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premier League | 5 | – | 1 | – | 59′ |
| Europa League | 2 | – | – | – | 145′ |
| EFL Cup | 2 | – | – | – | 135′ |
| – | – | 1 | – | 339′ |
Particularly in the Europa League, Lindelof may have to be of use to the Portuguese. Games come thick and fast, and with young lads like Yoro and Heaven – they can’t be playing every fixture.
Manchester United also likely won’t sign a centre back on deadline day, so despite all looking lost for Lindelof at United, Red Devils supporters may be seeing him on their screens in due time.
