Manchester United have had a season to forget and things got a lot worse after Lisandro Martinez suffered up a serious knee injury against Crystal Palace.
Not only did United lose 2-0 at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday, but Ruben Amorim also lost one of his most important players.
Lisandro Martinez was stretchered off in the final 10 minutes against Palace.
Amorim admitted Martinez’s injury looked a ‘serious one’ after the match, and United are now concerned about the length of time the defender will miss.

Man United fearing worst over Lisandro Martinez injury
Colliding with Ismaila Sarr just after the 80-minute mark, Martinez immediately called United’s physios on and gestured that he needed to come off.
Cleary in a lot of pain, the 27-year-old, who was replaced by Matthijs de Ligt, has suffered significant damage to his knee, and according to talkSPORT, could miss the rest of the season.
The outlet claims those inside United fear the worst and aren’t hopeful Martinez will return to action before the end of the campaign.
A hammer blow for Amorim, who, up until now, has relied heavily on his number six.
Too late for a replacement so new signing could have chance
At the time of writing, there are just 11 hours left in the January transfer window, so it seems incredibly unlikely the Red Devils will have time to identify and sign a replacement for Martinez.
Amorim will probably be told to work with what he currently has at his disposal, which includes new signing Ayden Heaven, who joined from Arsenal.
| Man United Defenders | Age |
| Lisandro Martinez | 27 |
| Harry Maguire | 31 |
| Leny Yoro | 19 |
| Matthijs de Ligt | 25 |
| Victor Lindelof | 30 |
| Jonny Evans | 37 |
| Ayden Heaven | 18 |
Evans, the most senior of Amorim’s centre-backs, is also out injured, so although Heaven is still young and very inexperienced, United aren’t blessed with options at the back.
While De Ligt, Maguire and Yoro will certainly be the first choice back three, with the fixtures coming thick and fast as United continue to compete on three fronts, Heaven could be handed a first-team chance earlier than what he probably expected.
