Elliot Anderson is in the ‘Red Zone’ ahead of 2026 World Cup
There is no denying that the 2025/26 season was an excellent one for Elliot Anderson on a personal level.
Anderson dominated Premier League charts and established himself as a world-class talent in midfield. That is the reason both City and United are desperate to sign him.
But his breakout season has come at a cost: fatigue.
According to The Times, Anderson is in the ‘Red Zone’ which puts players at increased risk of injury.
The report points out that Anderson played 4,743 minutes of football in the 2025/26 season, which is a staggering 52% increase on his minutes in 2024/25.
That increase in workload is what puts Anderson at risk of an injury, and a potential long-term setback at that.

Elliot Anderson’s workload will increase over World Cup
As if Anderson’s intense workload in the Premier League wasn’t enough, he is expected to be a starter in Thomas Tuchel’s England side in this summer’s World Cup.
Anderson has nearly played as many minutes as midfield partner Declan Rice (4,861) in 2025/26, so his game time should be under strict management.

If England put together a deep run in the World Cup, Anderson will be at high risk of injury heading into the 2026/27 Premier League season.
That should be a huge concern for Ineos if he does arrive as a £100 million marquee signing at Old Trafford.
