Ayden Heaven is already on his way to doing what his footballing idol never could at Man Utd

Ayden Heaven looks good value to be Manchester United’s player of the month, having broke out as a bonafide starter in recent weeks.

Having started as a centre-back in the 1-0 beating of Newcastle on Boxing Day, Ayden Heaven has now been in the starting line-up for five consecutive matches.

The 19-year-old has been pretty undeniable, with Roy Keane even praising Heaven, which is a real rarity from the club legend.

Additionally, Heaven has won Ruben Amorim’s trust, with the head coach suggesting that his place in the team right now is nailed on, even if players return from injury.

Now, Heaven’s form means that he has done something that even his hero couldn’t.

Ayden Heaven is achieving something Alexis Sanchez never did at Manchester United

Over the past four games in particular, Heaven has been brilliant for United and is currently in untouchable form, winning duels, tackles, and on the ball, he has a special quality.

Heaven gave full praise to Amorim after the win over Newcastle, even feeling confident enough to suggest winning the title could be a target.

Heaven’s performances lately have been so good that his potential is now looking like it’s become present, with the player having the quality to be one of the best in the world.

It is well known that Heaven’s footballing hero was Alexis Sanchez, who he mimicked when making the Arsenal to United switch in January 2024.

However, unlike Sanchez, Heaven is making a success of his move.

This puts Heaven into the same bracket as Robin van Persie, although he could become so much more within the club history pages if he becomes as good as he looks likely to be.

Ayden Heaven is too good to not be playing for Manchester United

After a frustrating start to the season, Heaven was expected to head on loan for minutes to aid his development.

However, Heaven has since been so good that there is no chance United will sanction his departure, playing himself into the first-choice centre-back pairing.

While nowhere near his ultimate potential levels, Heaven has been incredible and given how good he is at just 19, United’s £1.5m investment is probably more than 10x greater at the moment.

This is exactly what Ineos wanted when they started with this recruitment plan, and it is looking more and more likely to be success story number one.

Heaven could even have a World Cup call-up in his sights if he continues at this level.
