Ayden Heaven continued his brilliant run of form during Manchester United’s Boxing Day win over Newcastle United.

Manchester United kept just their second clean sheet of the season in the 1-0 win over Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim refused to use United’s injury issues, including Bruno Fernandes’ absence, as an excuse this week, and he can be extremely proud of the response he got from his players.

Heaven was the standout against Villa last week, and the 19-year-old made his fifth consecutive league start on Boxing Day, this time in a slightly different position.

Ayden Heaven praised Ruben Amorim’s tactics

Amorim has shown his tactical flexibility in recent weeks, interchanging between his beloved 3-4-2-1 formation and a 4-3-3.

Against Newcastle, Amorim appeared to catch out Eddie Howe with his formation, with United lining up in a four-at-the-back again.

After the full-time whistle, Ayden Heaven gave the highest praise to Amorim and his strategy.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Heaven said: “It was different again, obviously I was playing on the right side which is my weaker foot.

“But with the manager, we play loads of formations with him and whatever he does, we know it’s going to work.

“I’m so proud of the team.”

Victory over Newcastle means the Red Devils have climbed back up to fifth in the Premier League table.

The goal this season will be to qualify for the Champions League and United are currently on track. But Heaven is not ruling anything out, including a title race.
