Just before Manchester United announced an exciting double deal, an unfortunate problem re-emerged.
United confirmed the signing of Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, bringing in two highly capable players from Bayern Munich.
An hour before the confirmation, United revealed Luke Shaw has suffered yet another injury problem which means that he will miss out on the beginning of the Premier League campaign
And as United contemplates the next possible step to solve this ongoing issue, another raid on Bayern Munich should not be ruled out.

United have to explore Alphonso Davies deal
Luke Shaw was one of Manchester United’s most injured players in 2023/24, and has an appalling record with injuries over the past decade.
New signing Noussair Mazraoui is capable of playing at left-back but a more specialist left-back should be in United’s thinking first and foremost.
Bayern left-back Alphonso Davies is one name that the Red Devils must now look at, with the former Vancouver Whitecaps defender having just one year remaining on his deal.
Davies was ‘proud’ to see former teammate Joshua Zirkzee complete his move to United earlier this summer and the Canadian is still only 23-years-old.
The left-back’s injury record has been pretty good over recent seasons, and in 2023/24 Davies missed just four games for the Bavarian side in the previous campaign under Thomas Tuchel.
Alphonso Davies could be the ideal Shaw replacement
The best ability that a footballer can possess is availability and Luke Shaw fails this simple pre-requisite to be a reliable top performer.
Last season for Bayern, Davies scored two goals and provided five assists in the Bundesliga for the German giants.
He has a proven track record with Bayern and needs a new challenge. Spanish newspapers AS report Real Madrid are interested – but they have not yet met the £30 million asking price, giving United a chance to steal in.
This might be more than United would like to spend on a left-back right now, but Davies is a unique opportunity.
Davies is fast, creative, and tenacious, and is a Champions League winner who could flourish on the big stage at Old Trafford, with his peak years still ahead of him.
United signed Sergio Reguilon on loan from Spurs last summer with Shaw unavailable and the Red Devils would be wise to sign another specialist left-back during this transfer window. Davies would be an almighty upgrade.
