Jadon Sancho has a new chance at Manchester United after being reintegrated into the first team squad.

Manchester United fans were stunned to see Jadon Sancho brought back into the Manchester United first team squad.

Sancho had not played for United since August 2023, before a bust-up with Erik ten Hag blew up his career at the club.

The winger spent last the second half of last season on loan at Borussia Dortmund, but the German club have elected not to bring him back permanently, a decision led by financial constraints.

Now Sancho is back at United, he has a fresh opportunity to try to make his spell at the club a success.

Alessandro Del Piero gave advice to Jadon Sancho

The highlight of Jadon Sancho’s stint at Borussia Dortmund came as the German club defeated Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-finals.

Sancho was lively in both legs, impressing with a mazy array of dribbling he rarely displayed at Manchester United.

At this point, Sancho was widely urged to stick around at Dortmund, in an environment where he clearly enjoys himself.

The one high profile figure who hit back against this ‘comfort zone’ was Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero, who urged Sancho to use his return to form as fuel to re-ignite his Manchester United adventure.

Del Piero told CBS Sports Golazo’s coverage: “If a player like him can play these kind of games, with this kind of quality, you need to go to Man United.

“Next year maybe, one more year, let’s see how he feels, which coach, ok, everything, this kind of player needs to play every year at the top.

“With Man United they are supposed to go [to the Champions League] every year. I know they are struggling, but you have to, you want to achieve with the big clubs and this is the destiny of Man United and the destiny of him at some point.

“I hope for him that he can go there and perform in that way, with that personality, I really hope so. Tonight he was unbelievable, he was dribbling everybody.”

Del Piero comments have new life now

Alessandro Del Piero’s comments were designed to tell Sancho he must fight to achieve at Manchester United, because it will mean more to become a success with the Red Devils, due to the size of the club.

This advice was expected to fall on deaf ears. If Erik ten Hag stayed at the club, which he has, then it appeared there was no way back for Sancho.

Now sense has prevailed, with Ten Hag coming out this week to declare Sancho is a ‘good player’, and that a line has been drawn under past events.

Del Piero’s comments have a new lease of life now. Whether Sancho heard them or not, his advice is more apt now than it was when he said it.

At Manchester United, the opportunity is huge. Sancho is fortunate to have a fresh chance. And now he must seize it. His ‘destiny’ could still be to achieve something special at Old Trafford.
