Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho may have a chance to save his Old Trafford career having returned to training at Carrington last week.
Few signings have arrived at Manchester United with as much hype as Jadon Sancho.
The wide man was a target for multiple transfer window before United finally lured him from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021.
Sancho joined in a huge £73million move and had dazzled in the Bundesliga with 50 goals and 64 assists in just 137 appearances.
That kind of attacking brilliance hasn’t been seen on a consistent basis in a United shirt, managing only 12 goals and six assists in 82 games.
Sancho’s United career took a turn last year as a fall-out with Erik ten Hag saw him completely frozen out of the team.
A loan return to Borussia Dortmund allowed Sancho to play regularly again and get back to his best, impressing on his journey to the Champions League.

Erik ten Hag on Jadon Sancho
It looked like Sancho had no route back to first-team action at Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old showed his quality at Dortmund but the expectation was that his displays would ultimately lead to a permanent departure.
Fans were left surprised last week though as Sancho was back in first-team training at Carrington for the first time since September 2023.
United confirmed that Sancho would be back in first-team reckoning once again, seemingly burying the hatchet with Ten Hag.
The Dutchman has now commented on the situation whilst speaking to The Athletic.
Ten Hag admitted that a line has been drawn on the situation with Sancho now back in contention as pre-season gets underway.
Ten Hag noted that United ‘need good players’ and that Sancho is one of them, so everybody will now move on with the new Premier League season on the horizon.
“Yeah, as we said, we’ve drawn the line,” said Ten Hag. “Manchester United need good players and Jadon is a good player. We have drawn that line and we move on.”
“We’ve drawn the line. We move on,” he added.
Sancho faces competition
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg adds that there have been ‘good discussions’ with Sancho in recent days, which have sparked his return to the fold.
Plettenberg claims that United are now ‘increasingly considering’ keeping Sancho after all and fully reintegrating him into the team.
It’s added that ‘suitable offers’ may still be considered but United are discussing keeping Sancho for the foreseeable future.
Jason Wilcox is understood to be a big fan of Sancho having worked together at Manchester City and his influence may well have been a factor here.
Sancho must now knuckle down and impress having been given a second chance under Ten Hag, but he faces major competition.
Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho are predominantly left-sided wingers and Sancho will find it difficult to break past those two.
Perhaps Sancho will need to play on the right side to get back into the team, but Garnacho has impressed there in recent times.
Sancho has a real battle to get back into the United team but positive steps have been made – and there may still be a chance for him to salvage his United career after all.
