Zidane reportedly in talks to succeed United target Pochettino at PSG

Mauricio Pochettino is seemingly Manchester United’s top managerial target.

The issue is getting him out of Paris Saint-Germain mid-season, but reports in France claim that could be resolved soon.

Le Parisien report that Zinedine Zidane has already been in talks with PSG over succeeding Pochettino.

They claim that those discussions were originally in relation to Zidane taking over at the end of the season.

But given United’s interest in Pochettino, that timescale could be brought forward so he comes in now.

They say that Zidane would finally be the superstar manager they crave to manage their superstar squad.

He also has three Champions League winner’s medals and that is the competition PSG want to win the most.

Pochettino’s lack of trophies was held against him when he left Tottenham and would be flagged up again if he came to United.

Pochettino publicly played down the links to United ahead of PSG’s clash with Manchester City.

And United are reportedly lining up candidates in the search for an interim manager they announced when confirming Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking.

But behind the scenes, PSG are seemingly planning for the Argentine’s exit, and acknowledging it could be imminent.

Hopefully, that means United are pressing ahead with a swoop for Pochettino. If Zidane ends up in the French capital and Pochettino comes to Old Trafford, it is hard to see any party involved who would be dissatisifed.
