Wout Weghorst did not have the best time at Manchester United.
The towering Dutch striker was brought in to replace Cristiano Ronaldo after his infamous interview forced Erik ten Hag to part ways with the legendary forward.
Manchester United were short of money, so Wout Weghorst was brought in from Burnley as a means to an end to play up top for the rest of the 22/23 season.
After what was a lacklustre half-season with just two goals to his name, the forward was subsequently not kept on a permanent deal at Old Trafford. He moved back to the Bundesliga, where he’s now hit some form, which has also carried through to his performances for the national side.

Wout Weghorst scores phenomenal goal for the Netherlands
Weghorst featured for the Netherlands against Ireland in a EURO 2024 qualifier. It’s safe to say he made his mark on the game.
The 6’6 striker scored the only goal of the fixture to give La Oranje a 1-0 victory over the Irish – and what a goal it was.
The forward received the ball just beyond the halfway line, spun Nathan Collins and sprinted towards goal.
Once he got within shooting distance, he fired a remarkable strike past a helpless keeper into the top corner. Sensational stuff from the big man.

Where was this Wout Weghorst at Manchester United?
It’s safe to say that this side of Weghorst was not shown at Old Trafford. The two goals he did score were nothing short of mediocre at United.
However, since his return to Germany, he appears to have found some form once again.
Starting from the end of October, Weghorst scored three goals in as little as 14 days for Hoffenheim. This surpassed what he achieved with United for half a season.
Now after a fine strike for his country – his confidence will surely be sky high. If only he could’ve done this in Manchester.
