For a player with such quality, Mainoo hasn’t been given anywhere near enough minutes this season. This isn’t to suggest he should be starting every game, but three or four minute cameos are insulting to Mainoo.

According to Flashscore, United are frustrated by Mainoo right now.
The reason for this is because of the lack of patience he has been showing this season at the club, with United always clear that he has a massive future.
Amorim has been working with Mainoo in training, which indicates that he’s not viewing the 20-year-old as a lost cause, but rather is trying to mould him into a player ready to run the United midfield.
Mainoo’s latest injury was cruelly timed
Ahead of United’s game against Aston Villa, Mainoo was expected to start with Casemiro injured. But prior to kick-off, Amorim confirmed Mainoo was out injured.
This was really unlucky timing for United and Mainoo as the 20-year-old would finally have gotten some starting line-up minutes.
However, with Bruno Fernandes now out injured for a month, Mainoo’s injury is even more frustrating as United might have been able to start the talented youngster for six successive games which would have surely ended talk of his departure.
Mainoo cannot catch a break, but hopefully he only misses the next week or so and still gets back in time to play some games before a decision can be made.
