Manchester United could raid their cross-city rivals in the summer to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s squad.
Unlike under Glazer ownership, it seems Ineos are keen to move quickly in the transfer window.
Manchester United have held positive talks with Matheus Cunha, and are closing in on £30m Liam Delap deal.
Both players fit Ineos’ transfer strategy as young and exciting players – and interestingly both are Premier League-proven.
With Christian Eriksen likely to leave this summer, United are in the market for a central midfielder and reports suggest James McAtee is on Ineos’ radar.

James McAtee grew up in Man United’s academy
Born in Salford, McAtee actually grew up playing in Manchester United’s academy before he made a switch to Manchester City aged 10.
His brother, John McAtee was also in United’s academy setup at the time, but The Athletic report that their parents were unhappy with the progress being made.
City swooped and brought McAtee into their academy, and now at 22 years old he is finding his way into the first team.
He has made 25 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side this season, but is still not content with his game time having played just 885 minutes across all competitions.
James McAtee to Man United latest update
McAtee has proven himself capable of playing in both central midfield and as a right-sided No.10 – two areas Amorim will want to strengthen this summer.
United are showing interest in McAtee knowing he is entering the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium.
Back in 2021, United wanted to re-sign McAtee but he stayed put at City. With Ineos now at the helm, they could try again.

Technical director Jason Wilcox could play a key role in the deal having worked closely with McAtee as City’s academy director. He also tried to sign the youngster at Southampton while working as director of football.
According to the Daily Mail, McAtee is valued at around £25million. Depending on players sales made this summer, it’s certainly an option that United could explore further.
