Ineos has already strengthened Manchester United’s hierarchy significantly since arriving earlier this year.

For Manchester United, the people making decisions at the club were in a dire situation before Ineos arrived and cleared house with some true experts in the field brought in.

Omar Berrada arrived to become CEO from Manchester City, and he has been joined by Jason Wilcox and Dan Ashworth.

Christopher Vivell is also at the club as the interim recruitment director, with his temporary stay already being extended beyond the January transfer window.

The footballing side of the club is almost complete with the structure above Erik ten Hag now complete and leaving the manager no excuses.

With the transfer window closed, footballing additions could be eased and now the business side could be focussed on with Marc Armstrong from PSG now being a reported addition.

Manchester United set to appoint another new figure

After creating an area of excellence at the club on the footballing side, Ineos are now looking to do the same on the other side of the club.

This comes according to L’Equipe who have now reported that PSG’s chief revenue officer is the man Ineos are set to appoint next.

Marc Armstrong is the name United could soon be appointing as the man in charge of revenue – a name which may have been suggested by Jean-Claude Blanc who is formerly of PSG as well.

Armstrong has been directing the Parisians’ financial strategy in all revenue-generating areas – a role he was promoted to in 2022.

Armstrong is a true heavyweight in the marketing and revenue department of sports and has a long stretching career at some of the world’s biggest organisations.

Who is Marc Armstrong?

British-born Armstrong began his career with the FA in 1997 as the head of business development, where he remained until 2007 when he moved to T.E.A.M Marketing in 2008 in Luzern, Switzerland.

In 2010, Armstrong moved stateside to work with the National Football League as the commercial director. He remained here until 2012 when he was hired by the NBA to become their vice-president of marketing partnerships.

In the NBA he was then promoted after two years to the vice president of global marketing partnerships and emerging markets. He remained here until 2018 when he was snapped up by PSG to become the chief partnerships officer.

After four years in this role, Armstrong then became the chief revenue officer where he has been for two years.

Now, he could be adding Manchester United to the impressive list of sports brands that he has worked for if Ineos are to get their way.
