When to expect Dan Gore and Toby Collyer back in action for Manchester United

Manchester United are set to change drastically under the leadership of new head coach Ruben Amorim.

After two and a half years of mediocrity, Manchester United fans are more than ready for new ideas.

This is exactly why Ineos pushed the boat out and decided to appoint Ruben Amorim – a head coach who is a drastic change from Erik ten Hag.

Amorim is a head coach who has been praised by both Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola – the two generational coaches of their generations.

However, expectations need to be tempered with the fact it will take Amorim some time to get things how he wants them.

One thing which he hopes to improve is the injury record of the United squad.

Dan Gore and Toby Collyer near return from injury

Two players that Amorim can look forward to getting to watch are Dan Gore and Toby Collyer – with both suffering from injuries in the past month which kept them out.

In October, both were ruled out with injury – missing United’s catastrophic 1-1 draw against Fenerbahce in the process.

Gore had only just returned from injury – instantly featuring in Ten Hag’s Europa League squad to face Porto. Meanwhile, Collyer never made it back fit from international duty with England U20s, after his first call-up in years.

Well now, both are reportedly nearing a return.

According to Manchester Evening News, Gore is expected to return from injury within the coming weeks, which will be a big boost for the U21s initially.

Meanwhile, Collyer is already back training on the grass and was even spotted greeting Amorim at Carrington on Tuesday.

The report adds that neither Gore nor Collyer’s injury problems were viewed as serious but were rather just small concerns.

MEN quoted U21 head coach Travis Binnion on the situation following the U21’s 4-1 defeat to Huddersfield.

“He’ll be back…. soon. Days, weeks…. like it’s short,” said Binnion about Gore.

On Kone, Binnion added: “Toby Collyer has returned to the grass this week, so that’s a positive. These lads are good players, they need to get fit, stay fit and have a positive impact for the club.”

Ruben Amorim will have Manchester United squad near full complement

If asked, Ten Hag may point to injuries as one reason his time as Manchester United boss ended so drastically wrong.

However, for Amorim, his era will begin with a strong and near fully fit squad as several key players are expected back in the next few weeks.

Against Ipswich and Kieran McKenna, Amorim will likely welcome the returns of Kobbie Mainoo, Leny Yoro and Mason Mount.

Meanwhile, Luke Shaw is also expected to be close to a comeback – and even Tyrell Malacia ended his 17-month absence on Tuesday.

We can now add Gore and Collyer to this list, two additions to the midfield which will be greatly welcomed by Amorim.
