Former Manchester United and Aberdeen manager Sir Alex Ferguson helped a head coach “clear” his head a “little bit” only a day after a crushing defeat.
Sir Alex Ferguson has been out of the managerial dugout since 2013 after he called it time on his legendary Manchester United coaching career.
The 82-year-old Scotsman led the Red Devils to their last Premier League title at the end of the 2012-13 season before he bowed of Old Trafford as United manager.
Ferguson, who engineered all 13 of United’s Premier League title wins, is widely considered one of the best managers of all time after his impact on the sport.
The legendary Scotsman had a remarkable impact at Aberdeen, including capturing three Scottish Premier Division titles and a European Cup Winners’ Cup trophy.
Following his success at the Pittodrie Stadium, Ferguson arrived at Old Trafford in 1986 and replaced Ron Atkinson as United head coach.
The Aberdeen and United legend added to his success at the Premier League club, including leading the Red Devils to a famous treble win in 1999.

Ferguson spent time with manager
Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin has revealed that he spent time with Sir Alex Ferguson after his side suffered a crushing 6-0 defeat to Celtic.
Celtic dumped Aberdeen out of the Scottish League Cup earlier this month with their thumping win in the semi-finals, setting up a showdown in the final with Rangers.
Following the defeat at Hampden Park, Jimmy Thelin was in the company of Ferguson for Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against Chelsea earlier this month.
“Our chairman Dave [Cormack] knows Sir Alex really well,” he said, as per The Press and Journal.
“Sir Alex invited us and it was actually some weeks ago it was planned.
“It was a good experience to have this focus the day after the game and clear my head a little bit and then move on from there.”
Ferguson’s legacy lives on at Aberdeen
Aberdeen have been unable to achieve the same levels of success since Ferguson left the club and moved to United in the 1980s.
Ferguson, who has a statue at Pittodrie Stadium, has previously opened up on what his Aberdeen players were able to achieve during their hugely successful period.
“The thing about human beings, some people want to go to the moon for their holidays and some want to go to the local park,” he said in 2022.
“These boys wanted to go to the moon.
“They had the desire to be better and better and that gave me the incentive to work with them and let them understand that, look, other clubs want to win trophies, you have to want to win it more than them.
“The desire to win more than others is what will get you there.”
