Roy Keane left Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Ian Wright in stitches after his dig on a Manchester United legend amid discussing a key moment in the treble season.

Manchester United became the first English team in history to complete a continental treble, with the Red Devils pulling off the iconic feat in the 1998-99 campaign.

Roy Keane and Gary Neville were both part of the famous United treble-winning team in 1999 under legendary former United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The 53-year-old Irishman was captain of the treble winners and played a key role, including his remarkable performance against Juventus in the Champions League.

However, both Keane and Paul Scholes would miss the Champions League final at the Camp Nou against Bayern Munich due to suspensions.

Keane’s dig on Man Utd legend

Manchester United’s remarkable comeback win against Bayern Munich in the Champions League final came up on an episode of The Overlap on Tour.

Sir Alex Ferguson were on the back foot only six minutes into the final after Mario Basler put Bayern into the lead at Barcelona’s iconic Camp Nou stadium.

However, United managed to pull off the unthinkable against Bayern after producing a dramatic comeback in second-half injury time.

United legend Teddy Sheringham pulled the Red Devils level after connecting with a David Beckham corner before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer inflicted the killing blow.

David Beckham swung in a second corner only minutes after Teddy Sheringham’s equaliser and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer turned the ball in the back of the net.

Keane reignited his feud with Ferguson by claiming that they had a “half-decent manager,” which left Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Ian Wright in laughter.

“It was a really good dressing room, good players and a half-decent manager,” he said while laughing.

“We had a really good dressing room. A bit of fight, a bit of quality and we kept going until the end which we did do.”

Keane and Ferguson rivalry at Man Utd

Keane was a linchpin midfield figure under Ferguson and a key influence both on the pitch and off it after he ascended to the United captaincy.

The former United captain’s relationship with Ferguson fractured and Keane’s infamous MUTV interview after the 4-1 defeat to Middlesbrough sped up his exit.

The Irish hardman was axed from Old Trafford in 2005 after his contract was terminated and Keane saw out the remainder of his career at Celtic.

Keane’s relationship with Ferguson has remained contentious and the United legend has previously said that he wouldn’t forgive the iconic Scotsman.

“As much as I’m not one to hold a grudge, I wouldn’t forgive Ferguson,” he told Off The Ball in 2019.

“The media spin, how I apparently upset everybody, it was all nonsense.

“I don’t care if it’s Alex Ferguson or the Pope, you’re going to defend yourself. I think when he apologises, I will probably say hello to him, yeah. But I’ve no interest in speaking to the man.”
