Diogo Dalot proud to be playing alongside the 'best' in Cristiano Ronaldo
Manchester United full-back Diogo Dalot has spoken about the great pride he has in playing alongside the best player in the world in Cristiano Ronaldo.
Dalot has long been an admirer of his legendary compatriot and followed his career closely whilst he was a youngster.
But after the 36-year-old returned to the club in the summer and donned the club’s famous number seven shirt once again, Dalot is in the extremely lucky position of playing alongside Ronaldo for both club and country.
The 22-year-old set up Ronaldo’s latest goal in Portugal’s 3-0 friendly win over Qatar.

The former Porto full-back used Ronaldo’s commitment and achievements in football as inspiration when he was growing up.
But playing alongside the five-time Ballon D’Or winner is a big moment for Dalot and one he will look back on with great pride.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Ronaldo said: “I’ve spoken many times about Cristiano – he was a big reference for me growing up and then having the opportunity to meet him in the national team, and now being his team-mate.
“It’s a very good achievement for me too because when you grow up you want to play with the best and, playing with the best, it’s a very proud moment in my career.”
Still at the top of his game at the age of 36, Dalot admires Ronaldo’s desire and dedication to still be one of the best players in the world and burning need to taste more success.
Dalot added: “I think it’s the way he conducts himself and prepares himself for the games,” Diogo said.
“It’s another level. It’s special to combine the way you saw him before and now you can see him behind the scenes as well, and combine everything.”
As well as bringing guaranteed goals, Dalot believes Ronaldo’s serial winner attitude is contagious and it’s something that radiates through his team-mates.
Dalot concluded: “It’s amazing to have that energy and that mentality, also, in the dressing room. I think he brings everybody up and that’s so positive for us.”
