Manchester United and England icon Wayne Rooney has dropped a powerful stance on Ryan Giggs amid a major snub around his fellow Red Devils legend.

Ryan Giggs is widely regarded as one of the best Premier League players of all time and the 51-year-old Welshman had a legendary spell at Manchester United.

The ex-Red Devils winger lifted all 13 of United’s Premier League titles under iconic former manager Sir Alex Ferguson after his emergence in the 1990s.

Giggs’ mammoth silverware haul at United also included two Champions League trophies, four FA Cups and four League Cups before his retirement in 2014.

One of United’s beloved ‘Class of ’92’ stars, the former Wales and Red Devils star spent his entire career at Old Trafford and was deeply admired for his longevity.

The majority of Giggs’ remarkable run at United was under legendary former Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson before he briefly played under David Moyes.

Premier League legend Wayne Rooney says something about Ryan Giggs that will strike a chord with Man Utd fans

Ryan Giggs was part of the Manchester United youth academy before the Welsh ex-footballer broke into the first team under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.

The former Red Devils talent was a key part of Ferguson’s United treble winners in the 1998-99 season and Giggs remains a much-adored figure among United fans.

Wayne Rooney reacted to Gary Neville’s induction into the Premier League Hall of Fame and the United legend is baffled that Giggs is still not included in it.

“There’s top players that [are] still yet to go in,” he said on BBC Sport’s The Wayne Rooney Show.

“Ryan Giggs won 13 Premier League titles. And if we’re talking about football, he has to be in there.

“Roy Keane. Yeah, I don’t think he’s in there. It’s crazy.”

Wayne Rooney hits the nail on the head with Premier League icon Ryan Giggs, but not the same with Man Utd legend Roy Keane

Roy Keane is already part of the Premier League Hall of Fame, having been inducted in 2021 alongside legendary former United teammate Eric Cantona.

Rooney, to his credit, was trying to think off the top of his head if legendary former United captain Keane had been named as a Hall of Fame inductee.

But United’s all-time record scorer, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2022, could not have been more spot on with his assessment of Giggs.

Giggs was cleared of allegations against him after a case was dropped against him in 2023, with the United icon staunchly denying the charges made against him.

However, the aftermath of the court case – around charges of coercive and controlling behaviour – has left Giggs as a polarising figure in the footballing world.
