United players react to Timothy Fosu-Mensah making injury return
Current and former Manchester United players have reacted to Timothy Fosu-Mensah making his injury return for Bayer Leverkusen.
The former Manchester United academy star had been out of action for 321 days after rupturing his cruciate knee ligament.
But the Dutch international made his return to action in yesterday’s 2-1 win against Gladbach.
After being named on the bench in last weekend’s 2-2 home draw against Union Berlin, the 24-year-old came off the bench to play the last 35 minutes against Gladbach.
RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.
It was Fosu-Mensah’s first appearance since 28 February 2021 where he sustained the severe injury against Freiburg.
On his return, Leverkusen’s number 24 made 17 touches, completed his one attempted dribble, won four duels, whilst making two tackles and one clearance.
The win moved Gerardo Seoane’s side up to third in the Bundesliga table.
After leaving United in January last year, Fosu-Mensah, who has suffered two cruciate knee ligament injuries during his career will be hoping his injury misfortunes are now behind him.
Yesterday’s return was Fosu-Mensah’s eight appearance for the Bundesliga giants and he will now no doubt be targeting a place in the starting line-up and helping his side achieve Champions League qualification.
Whilst embarking on loan spells at Crystal Palace and Fulham, Fosu-Mensah made 30 appearances for Manchester United with his last coming against RB Leipzig in the Champions League in December 2020.
