Manchester United youngster Ethan Galbraith opened his Doncaster Rovers account with a stunning long-range effort to rescue a point for his loan side.
With Richie Wellens’ team trailing 1-0 at home to Cambridge United with around 25 minutes remaining, the Northern Ireland international unleashed a piledriver from about 25 yards out.
The ball went into the back of the net via the post and Cambridge keeper Tomas Holy was left rooted to the spot.
Galbraith’s goal came after he got an assist in Doncaster’s 3-2 win against Cheltenham Town at the weekend.
Galbraith dominates for Doncaster
Starting as a right-back, Galbraith’s influence on the match at the Keepmoat Stadium grew.
That was because after 40 minutes, Wellens opted for a change. Dan Gardner was withdrawn and replaced by Kyle Knoyle.
The right-back slotted into his usual position allowing Galbraith to push up into midfield.
He finished the match with 133 touches, which was more than any other player on the pitch (WhoScored).
The 20-year-old also completed the most passes (95) in the match and registered the most key passes (4).
Of his 95 passes, 12 were accurate long-balls to highlight the vast passing range the talented youngster possesses.
He also won two ground and aerial duels apiece and registered a tackle and interception in what was a dominant and influential performance by Galbraith.
Unbeaten in their last two, Doncaster are in the best form of the season and they will head to Charlton Athletic on Saturday, who sit one place above them in the League One relegation zone, fancying their chances of extending their unbeaten run to three.
Galbraith is relishing playing regular, senior first team football and he’s clearly relishing playing a starring role in Doncaster’s survival bid.
