United loanee Dylan Levitt tipped to reach the 'very top' of the game

Manchester United loanee Dylan Levitt has been tipped to go the very top of the game from Dundee United boss Tam Courts.

The Welsh international scored his first senior goal as the Tangerines earned a 2-1 Scottish Cup fourth round win at Kilmarnock, in extra-time.

The 21-year-old scored the winner in the 111th minute after picking up the ball on the edge of the box, skipping past two players and firing the ball into the bottom corner with a left-footed strike.

The two-hour outing against Killie was just Levitt’s second appearance since October after making his return from injury against St Mirren last weekend.

But Courts believes the ten-times capped Wales international has a big future ahead of him and that United have a “quality player” coming through their ranks.

Speaking to the Courier, Courts said: “Dylan is a quality player. He was actually struggling with cramp before he scored.

“It’s probably the first time in his career he’s been in position like that in a game.

“That can be a breakthrough moment for him – coming away with the winning goal, when he’s at his lowest point.”

The Tangerines’ boss believes that the Scottish Premier League side may look back in the years ahead and realise how “lucky” they were to have player with such “unbelievable technical quality” play at Tannadice Park.

Courts added: “He can go to very top. When you see him at close quarters you understand he’s a player with unbelievable technical ability.

“In four or five years time we may look back and realise how lucky we were to see such a gifted player at Dundee United.

“And our club deserves a lot of credit for that. He has been at other clubs but he is a talent that could be overlooked by others.

“But when you understand his style and see what he does on the pitch you realise he’s a big player.”

Loan spells at Charlton Athletic and Croatian side NK Istra didn’t work out for the midfielder last season, but he is thriving up north and has been tipped to achieve big things in his career.

If Dylan Levitt’s positive loan spell at Dundee United continues on its current trajectory, he will likely return to Carrington for first team pre-season training in the summer, before embarking on a season-long loan at Championship level.
