United fans call for Edinson Cavani to start
Edinson Cavani has been patient since signing for Manchester United at the start of October.
Now appears to be the right time for the Uruguayan striker to be handed his first start.
Anthony Martial has been playing poorly. While he actually managed to land a couple of shots on target against West Brom, his wastefulness nearly cost the team.
Cavani looked sharper when he came off the bench in Saturday’s victory.
RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.
If not for the international break, Cavani would have started in this game.
He arrived back in England on Thursday and so United felt it was best not to rush him back into action.
A bit of faith in Martial could have paid off too, but United can indulge the Frenchman no longer.
Cavani scored his first United goal in the win over Everton from the bench in United’s last game before the break, and he also netted against Colombia too.
United face Istanbul Basasksehir on Tuesday night and getting three points is crucial to maintaining the advantage at the top of the group after a surprise defeat in Turkey.
Cavani has more Champions League goals in his career than any United player and it is important Ole Gunnar Solskjaer puts his trust in him.
With the game taking place on Tuesday night, there is plenty of rest time before United travel to Southampton on Sunday.
Cavani could start in both games, and this would be both a popular decision and a sensible one.
United created chances against West Brom, with Fernandes making six key passes in total. It is time to let Cavani try and take advantage of this.
