Dinamo Zagreb star Dani Olmo was already going to be one of the most sought after players in the January transfer window before last night. And then he scored a magnificent volley against City.

Olmo’s strike rubber stamped both his potential and current ability and showed why United were linked with a move for him in the summer.

Croatian newspaper Sportske Novotski linked Olmo with a £36 million move to Manchester United. January could be our chance to renew interest.

He has everything, and wants a move

Olmo has everything you could ask for from a potential United signing. He is a flair player, who works hard for his team, influences matches and is just 21-years-old.

He left Barcelona as a teenager so he could play regular football in Serbia and his unusual route to the top has paid off. This shows how driven he is to succeed.

This summer he led Spain to win the European under-21 Championships, scoring three goals in five matches.

His performances this season have continued to highlight his talent. Olmo has seven goals and seven assists in 20 games.

Olmo can play on the right wing, he’s done so for both Spain and Dinamo, but his best position is in an attacking midfield role.

This is an area United need to strengthen and Olmo would be a cheaper option than James Maddison and is younger than Bruno Fernandes.

Earlier this season he told Sportske Novotski: “I have nothing to hide. I wanted to leave Dinamo, I wanted to move on and join a strong club in the big leagues. I thought this summer was the best time to leave.”

Dinamo are now out of European competition after losing against City; they finished fourth and don’t even fall into the Europa League.

Olmo is out of contract in 2021, and so it would make sense for Dinamo to cash in, as soon as this January while his reputation is soaring.

If a move for James Maddison really does prove impossible, Olmo would be a very good alternative.

Go get him…
