New signing Tyrell Malacia was involved in his first Manchester United training session on Thursday.
The former Feyenoord defender said his training session was all about ‘work’ as he settles into life at Carrington.
This is how it should be. New manager Erik ten Hag wants to turn Manchester United into a well-drilled team, capable of performing far better than last season’s Premier League record low points total.
Malacia is Ten Hag’s first new signing, with others expected to follow. He will compete for the left-back spot with Luke Shaw. It’s possible Alex Telles and Brandon Williams are both sold as consequence of his arrival.
United would have liked to have had more new faces on board before the club fly out on tour today, although it is not for lack of trying.
Negotiations are ongoing for Frenkie de Jong, Lisandro Martinez and Antony, with Christian Eriksen also set to join.

United also have several players returning from loan, including Donny van de Beek, Anthony Martial, Amad, James Garner and Facundo Pellistri, who could all play a role under Erik ten Hag if they can impress.
The big question remains over striker Cristiano Ronaldo, who was involved in the kit launch, despite not yet returning to training.
