Tyler Fletcher is in for a whirlwind few weeks, as he prepares to link up with the Scottish first-team next week after a strong campaign for Manchester United.

This season has seen Tyler Fletcher grow as a footballer and become a viable option for Manchester United in the near future.

Fletcher made his debut in February under Michael Carrick, coming off the bench against Tottenham in a 2-0 win.

Then, after a strong U21 campaign, Fletcher won the Denzil Haroun Player of the Year award for United, awarded in a ceremony at Carrington and then also at Old Trafford.

Now, Fletcher is set for an international opportunity.

Tyler Fletcher to train with the Scottish senior team next week

Unlike his brother, Jack, Tyler Fletcher chose to represent Scotland like his father, Darren Fletcher.

Fletcher received a Scotland U21 call-up for the March international break, and now he’s gone one step further.

The Scottish national team has now announced on X that Fletcher is one of four young talents set to join the senior squad next week at Lesser Hampden, as preparations for the World Cup begin.

James Wilson (Heart of Midlothian), Liam McFarlane (Heart of Midlothian), and Luke Graham (Dundee United), join Fletcher in this opportunity.

Scotland boss Steve Clarke discussed the decision with the Scottish media.

“When I announced the squad, I made reference to a few young players joining us for training at Lesser Hampden.

“It’s helpful for us, because it boosts our numbers for training – given the staggered arrivals of those who are still playing domestically – and it allows us to take a closer look at some boys who are on our radar.

“It should also be a very positive experience for the players themselves, who will get an insight into what we look for in the senior squad environment, surrounded by top professionals.

“Liam will meet up later in the week and will travel to America with the squad as a training goalkeeper.”

Fletcher is the least experienced of these four in senior football, which shows how highly regarded he is, and he will get the chance to train alongside Scott McTominay, with the United link sure to help.

It will be a great experience for Fletcher, and he hopes that he will soon be in the full squad.

Tyler Fletcher might still sign off-season with a Manchester United appearance

Fletcher’s campaign could have ended when United’s U21 side lost the Premier League 2 final last weekend.

But given his status as one of the finest academy players, he might yet play for the first team to conclude the campaign.

United face Brighton on Sunday at the Amex to end this season, and Carrick is planning to use the youth.

Godwill Kukonki and Jim Thwaites are identified as possible debutants, but Fletcher could be in line for a second senior appearance.

Fletcher could sign off in style at Brighton, before then heading to the senior Scottish side.
