The transfer deadline might have passed but Manchester United are not finished with the outgoings.

It was a transfer window which was heavy on young talents departing Manchester United on loan.

Ethan Wheatley moved to Walsall, while Ethan Ennis has headed to Doncaster Rovers.

Dan Gore is at Rotherham on loan, with Joe Hugill at League Two relegation candidates Carlisle.

Ethan Williams was also sent out on loan in a month which freed plenty of space up in the U21 squad.

Now this list has grown even longer.

Sam Mather and Louis Jackson head on loan together

The transfer deadline slammed shut at 11 pm on Monday, February 3rd and yet it was one hour later when Tranmere Rovers announced their double deal.

Tranmere announced that they had managed to get both Sam Mather and Louis Jackson to join their club on loan until the end of the season.

It is nice to see them go together to the League Two side, as it will undoubtedly help with their integration and settling-in period.

Mather had been tipped for a loan, and it would depend on his fitness whether United would risk sending him out.

Jackson meanwhile was excellent for United in the UEFA Youth League back in December which will have wowed Tranmere.

What Tranmere manager Nigel Adkins said about Manchester United pair

This month has seen United fully lean into the loan market and utilise it to hand several academy prospects who are slightly older some first-team experience.

Most have gone to League Two and impressed which Tranmere will have seen and be hopeful about Mather and Jackson.

Speaking to club media, Rovers manager Nigel Adkins said: “We are delighted to sign a pair of young, talented players from a Premier League club, which gives us greater strength in depth for the second half of the season. I look forward to working with them both.”

This is an impressive move for the duo as it should give them great experience and will toughen them as players – due to joining a relegation fight against Morecambe and also Hugill’s Carlisle.
