Manchester United will restart their Europa League campaign with a tricky away trip to Spain to face Real Sociedad.

The Europa League remains Man United’s only hope of silverware and in terms of finances, qualifying for the Champions League, means everything.

Ruben Amorim has downplayed the importance of this game and the Europa League as a whole but he will nonetheless be impressed by how the Man Utd squad is shaping up for the game.

The team trained at Carrington before leaving for Spain and Amorim was boosted by the return of Toby Collyer, while the presence of five academy stars hints at a potentially spicy selection for the game.

Toby Collyer returns to Man Utd training

Collyer was in the midst of his breakout under Amorim when he became a part of a brutal triple injury blow to Manchester United before the game against Spurs last month.

His season has been a bit stop-start, with his breakthrough delayed under Amorim due to him picking up an injury when he arrived.

However, it is clear that Collyer provides the physicality Amorim so desires in his players so it’s a huge boost if he’s available for the Sociedad game.

Casemiro has handled himself fairly well but in an intense European fixture, Amorim will probably call upon Collyer’s legs before Casemiro’s nous.

It remains to be seen though if Collyer is deemed fit enough to travel and play any part in the game or this is just the first step towards a return later down the line.

Six Man Utd academy stars spotted

Amorim has been all praise for the academy but his actions have so far failed to match his words, with Chido Obi the only player to have been given opportunities, and that too out of necessity.

However, the training setup before the Sociedad game hints that a shift might be on the cards, with as many as five academy stars spotted training with the first-team.

Chief among them was Jack Moorhouse, United’s own “Paul Pogba” who has long been deemed good enough to make an impact at United.

Alongside Moorhouse was Harry Amass, James Scanlon, Jack Fletcher, and Jaydan Kamason, who’s flying for the academy side right now and could well challenge Diogo Dalot in the future.

Elyh Harrison and Hubert Graczyk were with the goalkeeping group to round up a youthful training core.
