The 2025/26 season will be kicking off soon, and Christian Eriksen has yet to find a new club after departing Manchester United earlier this summer.

In many ways, Manchester United are facing a summer of change after saying goodbye to six players.

Christian Eriksen, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof all left United at the end of the season following the expiration of their contracts. While Evans retired and took a job at the club, Eriksen and Lindelof are looking for new clubs.

It is understood that Eriksen has attracted interest from Wrexham, with the club’s manager admitting a call took place with the Dane.

Nothing has materialised since then and Eriksen is facing the new season without a club.

The Denmark international only has a few weeks to prepare for the new campaign and sign for a new club.

Eriksen made 35 appearances for United last season, scoring five goals and registering six assists.

The Dane still has a lot to offer at the highest level of the game, as well as on the international stage for Denmark.

Thomas Gravesen worried about Christian Eriksen

Eriksen spent three years at Old Trafford and left United when his contract expired in June.

Now, searching for a new club, there are further doubts over Eriksen’s future and whether he will find a new club before the season starts.

Eriksen is available on a free transfer and he has been linked with clubs other than Wrexham.

Former Everton and Celtic midfielder Thomas Gravesen is concerned that Eriksen is still trying to find a new club. He discussed his compatriot’s situation for Viaplay and Tipsbladet have relayed his comments.

“I am extremely worried. What is a huge factor for me is that nothing is coming from Christian Eriksen,” he said.

“A player of his age and with his qualities…where are those clubs? Why hasn’t he signed with a club yet? We all know how extremely important it is to be in shape… Why isn’t Christian Eriksen in it, why isn’t he participating on a level with the other players? Has he lost his joy? I am extremely worried.”

Eriksen’s Denmark teammate Simon Kjær left AC Milan as a free agent at the end of the 2023/24 season. His wait for a new club took over six months before announcing his retirement in January.

Gravesen is confident that won’t be the case for Eriksen.

He added: “I’m sitting here crossing everything that can be crossed that he has not reached the end of the road. But the scenario we are facing is similar to Simon Kjær’s. Half a year passed, where we did not hear anything from Simon Kjær, and suddenly he was finished. For me, it is too early when it comes to Christian Eriksen.”

Eriksen’s stats in the Premier League

The former Tottenham, Brentford and United midfielder made 650 career appearances, with 310 of those in the Premier League.

He has scored 55 goals and provided 81 assists in the English top flight and could remain in the division, depending on his next move.

Eriksen may want to experience something new after spending most of his career in England.

He started in just five Premier League games in his final season at the club.
