‘The most important thing’: Antony says best thing about Real Betis loan as Man Utd winger crowned Manuel Pellegrini’s ‘MVP’

It is going to take Manchester United years to undo the mistakes they have made in the transfer market.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is trying to overhaul United’s recruitment policies, including reducing the club’s wage bill. A long-winded process and one that is going to present many problems along the way.

And although Marcus Rashford’s long-term future could be decided at the end of the season after Aston Villa agreed a buy option in his loan deal, Antony’s future is far less assured.

Antony ‘very happy’ at Real Betis

Having been allowed to join Real Betis in the January window, Antony was hopeful he could recapture his best form. The winger’s start to life at the Benito Villamarin Stadium has surpassed all expectations, though.

The Brazilian has scored three goals and registered one assist in his first four appearances, including a superb volley against Real Sociedad last time out.

And judging by his recent comments, he is loving Betis just as much as they’re loving him.

“The most important thing is to be happy and I am very happy at Real Betis,” Antony said. “Things happen naturally! Here, I can show the football that brought me to Europe.”

Manuel Pellegrini’s ‘MVP’

Becoming an instant fav favourite, Antony’s impact at Betis is undeniable. While many argue United are the problem, the former Ajax man will just be glad of the chance to prove his critics wrong.

Described as Real Betis’ new ‘MVP’ by Spanish outlet AS, the Manchester United loanee is clearly making a huge impression in Spain.

With just two years left on his contract at Old Trafford, the summer transfer window will see United forced to decide on his future.

Should Antony push for a permanent move and United agree to sell him, the club will almost certainly have to accept a significant loss — a potentially embarrassing outcome, but that is becoming increasingly harder to avoid.
