With the 2025/26 season now almost complete, we are looking back on the best matches of the campaign.
Manchester United’s 2025/26 season has been a lot more enjoyable than the nightmare 2024/25 season we endured.
Despite Ruben Amorim being sacked in January, United rallied thanks to the immediate impact from Michael Carrick and his staff.
There have been some special moments this season, even during the Amorim spell. We are looking back on the most memorable and entertaining games…

Liverpool 1-2 Manchester United
Manchester United’s first win at Anfield since 2016, and it felt so good. With two draws in the two previous visits, United arrived to face Liverpool with belief, and piled the pressure on Arne Slot with a huge away win.
Amad created a goal for Bryan Mbeumo in the first two minutes to give United the lead. Liverpool equalised against the run of play, before Bruno Fernandes delivered his first assist of the season. After a corner was cleared, Fernandes lofted the ball back into the box, for Harry Maguire to thump in a header.

Manchester United 4-2 Brighton
Winning at Anfield was one thing. Could Manchester United follow it up with a victory against bogey side Brighton, who had a great record at Old Trafford? Ruben Amorim’s side delivered, with a statement victory where everything came together.
Matheus Cunha scored an impressive goal from outside the box, before Casemiro netted a trademark header. Bryan Mbeumo made it 3-0 in the second half. Then there was a wobble when Danny Welbeck scored a consolation free-kick, and Brighton added another.
Now at 3-2, Brighton were chasing an equaliser when United sealed the game with a counter-attack. Bruno Fernandes dummied Ayden Heaven’s pass upfield to leave Bryan Mbeumo to score his second of the game and cap a 4-2 win.

Wolves 1-4 Manchester United
Bottom of the table Wolves held United to a draw at Old Trafford in late December, but that was after Ruben Amorim’s side had demolished them 4-1 at Molineux. This was a game where everything came together.
It was the final match before Bryan Mbeumo departed for AFCON, and in the second half United were a cut above. Bruno Fernandes struck two goals and also provided an assist, while Mbeumo and Mason Mount scored the other two. United eased off, and probably could have added a few more.

Manchester United 4-4 Bournemouth
Drawing at home to Bournemouth was disappointing – but this was a spectacular way to do it. An instant Premier League classic with eight goals, drama and late chances. There was some poor defending from United, and a couple of dramatic late saves from Senne Lammens. This could quite easily have ended up 5-4 to Bournemouth.
Amad and Casemiro scored United’s first two goals, before a memorable Bruno Fernandes rocket of a free-kick in the second half. Matheus Cunha looked to have won it with a late goal at the Stretford End, before Bournemouth equalised.

Manchester United 2-0 Manchester City
The first game of the Michael Carrick era is one that Manchester United fans will never forget. With Amorim sacked after a dismal run of form and Darren Fletcher’s two-game spell changing little, expectations were minimal for Carrick’s start. He was appointed just days ahead of the derby. But the transformation was incredible.
United absolutely battered City from the first whistle and 2-0 flattered the visitors. United had three goals disallowed, hit the woodwork twice, and also missed other chances. It was pure dominance, with Erling Haaland barely getting a kick.
Bryan Mbeumo scored the winner to finish off a dramatic counter attack, before Patrick Dorgu smashed in a second to secure the win.

Arsenal 2-3 Manchester United
Arguably an even more impressive result than the home win over City, United went to league leaders Arsenal and won for the first time in the league since Arsene Wenger was in charge. Arsenal had scored first before big-game threat Bryan Mbeumo scored a swift equaliser.
The game really took off in the second half when Patrick Dorgu scored a dramatic goal to give United the lead, with his strike going in off the bar. Arsenal equalised with their typical corner rugby scrum, before an absolute rocket from Matheus Cunha gave United a 3-2 win.

Manchester United 3-2 Fulham
Michael Carrick kept up his 100 per cent win rate thanks to a special late goal from Benjamin Sesko at the Stretford End, sparking wild celebrations.
United led through goals from Cunha and Casemiro before Fulham netted twice in the final five minutes to make it 2-2. United were not done, thanks to a pinpoint cross from Fernandes to Sesko, who powered his shot into the net to send Old Trafford into delirium.

Manchester United 3-2 Liverpool
United scored two goals in the first 15 minutes and had fans dreaming of a total demolition. Cunha and Sesko were both on the scoresheet. Two lapses of concentration early in the second half brought Liverpool level, and had United fans worried about a painful defeat.
Academy hero Kobbie Mainoo washed the worries away with a perfectly timed winner at the Stretford End to make it 3-2. Just days after he signed his new contract, this was the perfect time for Mainoo to net his first goal in 12 months.
