Manchester United’s Brazilian duo Alex Telles and Fred will both miss tomorrow night’s trip to Burnley.

The South American pair have tested positive for Covid-19, meaning they now have to isolate.

Telles missed Friday’s devastating penalty shootout defeat to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup after he returned a positive test for the virus, prior to the game.

His compatriot Fred, who came on as a substitute against the Championship side, has also tested positive for Covid-19 and he could also miss Saturday’s home game against Southampton.

The pair had just returned from international duty after playing in Brazil’s latest World Cup qualifiers.

“Yeah we have two players missing,” interim boss Ralf Rangnick told the club’s official website as part of his pre-match interview.

“Alex Telles already missed the cup game because he tested COVID positive last week and, unfortunately, the same thing happened today with Fred. That’s why he will be missing from tomorrow’s game and possibly even the game against Southampton.”

Earlier today, the German confirmed that Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani and Raphael Varane were all fit to form part of the matchday squad to travel to Turf Moor.

Having not played since November, Paul Pogba made his return to action against Chris Wilder’s side and played 82 minutes.

“Those things happen and that’s why it’s even more important to have a player like Paul Pogba now available again,” the interim manager added on the absence of Fred in the heart of United’s midfield.

The Frenchman scored the winner against Sean Dyche’s side at Turf Moor last season.
