Tim Krul has insisted that Michael Carrick has restored two all-important ‘factors’ that Sir Alex Ferguson brought to the table as Manchester United manager.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been eager to restore the lost prestige that United have suffered since their last Premier League title in the 2012-13 campaign under Ferguson.

United have had six permanent head coaches in the aftermath of Ferguson’s departure and the Red Devils’ permanent managerial role is currently vacant.

Ruben Amorim was sacked as Man Utd head coach last month and Ineos brought Michael Carrick in as interim Red Devils manager until the end of the season.

The Red Devils have enjoyed a turnaround in form under Manchester United legend Michael Carrick, who has won four of his opening five Premier League matches.

United snatched a Premier League point against West Ham on Tuesday evening after second-half substitute Benjamin Sesko scored a dramatic injury-time equaliser.

Benjamin Sesko had also made an impact from the bench at Old Trafford earlier this month, with the striker scoring the winner in United’s 3-2 victory over Fulham.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily show, Tim Krul argued that the “fear factor” that United had at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson is now back.

“The fear factor of Manchester United is back, especially at Old Trafford – what a special place to play football, the fortress is back,” he said, as per BBC Sport.

The Red Devils’ newfound “belief” under Carrick also led to former Newcastle shot-stopper Krul saying that the famous ‘Fergie Time’ feature was now back at United.

“That ‘Fergie Time’ is well and truly back,” Krul said.

“The belief. They would have hoped for three points, but the unbeaten run is continuing.”

United’s 1-1 result against West Ham at the London Stadium has kept Carrick’s men in fourth place in the Premier League table, with Chelsea one point behind the club.

Carrick will now turn his attention to Goodison Park for the Everton clash on 23rd February, with kick-off for the United match slated for an 8pm UK kick-off time.
