Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos team made an approach to one Manchester United appointment that paid off in a big way after landing their crucial target.
Ineos took control of football operations at Old Trafford after British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe bought a minority stake in Manchester United back in 2023.
Ratcliffe’s purchase was ratified in 2024 and Ineos have made major changes to the day-to-day operations at the Premier League club amid the Glazers’ ownership.
Ineos have since brought in important behind-the-scenes figures to Man Utd, including the likes of Jason Wilcox, Omar Berrada and Christopher Vivell.

It could be one nobody is talking about yet… Omar Berrada says Ineos are preparing for unexpected transfers"
Omar Berrada’s immediate reaction to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos trying to bring him to Man Utd in 2024
Omar Berrada had been widely hailed for his work at Manchester City as part of his former role as chief football operations officer under the City Football Group banner.
The 48-year-old Moroccan, who previously served as Manchester City’s commercial director, was brought to Manchester United as chief executive officer in 2024.
Richard Arnold stepped down from the role of Man Utd CEO in 2023 and paved the way for the Ineos regime to lure Berrada away from the Red Devils’ rivals.
Speaking on United’s official podcast, Berrada admitted that he could not believe that Ineos wanted to bring him to Old Trafford as Richard Arnold’s replacement.
“It was completely unexpected,” he said on Inside Carrington, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“It happened really quickly. When I was fortunate enough to be offered the role, what I said to my wife is: ‘I just can’t pass this up. It’s the biggest club in the world.’”

How much do you think Man Utd will spend in this window?

Omar Berrada’s clear-cut stance on the Man Utd offer that was made to him by Ineos
Berrada had worked closely with former Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola amid the Premier League club’s dominant period post-Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
The former Man City figure claimed that the allure of working at a club like United was more than enough reason for him to immediately sign up for his current role.
“The opportunity to be part of this great institution is unique, and I wouldn’t want to wake up in 20 or 30 years regretting not having given it a go,” Berrada said.
“Really, I didn’t hesitate.”
United finished third in the Premier League table in the 2025-26 campaign under Michael Carrick, who was appointed the permanent United manager last month.
