Sir Alex Ferguson recalled his hilarious encounter with a Manchester United legend and the former manager received an incredible response to his telling question.
The 83-year-old Manchester United legend is widely regarded as one of the best managers in the history of football after his impact in England and Scotland.
Sir Alex Ferguson enjoyed incredible success in Scotland with Aberdeen ahead of his Old Trafford arrival, including lifting the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1983.
The former United manager replaced Ron Atkinson in 1986 and overcame a tough start to life in England before ushering in a period of dominance over English football.
During his illustrious reign at Old Trafford, Ferguson lifted 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies, five FA Cups and four League Cups.
The Aberdeen legend bowed out of the Red Devils as a manager in 2013 after leading United to their last Premier League title at the end of the 2012-13 campaign.

Ferguson’s visit to beloved Man Utd figure
Sir Alex Ferguson was among the past and present Manchester United figures who attended the funeral service of Kath Phipps at the Manchester Cathedral on Monday.
Kath Phipps was the longstanding receptionist at Old Trafford and the beloved United figure had been at the Red Devils for over 55 years.
The former United employee passed away at the age of 85 in December 2024 and both past and current Red Devils players paid incredible tributes to her.
David Beckham, Roy Keane and Bryan Robson all attended the funeral service, while Ruben Amorim and the current United first-team squad were also present.
During his eulogy inside Manchester Cathedral, Ferguson revealed that he had visited Phipps before she passed away and she was “happy and content.”
The United legend found her drinking a “Bacardi and Coke” and Ferguson was met with a hilarious response when he asked her what her doctor would think.
“When I went to see her at home towards the end, she was happy and content. I thought she had a Coke to drink,” he said, as per the Metro.
“She told me it was a Bacardi and Coke. I asked her what the doctor would think about that. She said: ‘I haven’t asked him.’
“It is unusual to have someone who is so committed and who loved people so much. The people you see here today are here to honour a very special person.”
Jonny Evans’ tribute to Phipps
Jonny Evans spoke highly of his experience with Kath Phipps and said that it was “like driving royalty” when he offered her a lift home last summer.
“A remarkable lady,” he told the BBC.
“She was the best on a good day and the best on a bad day. Not one person ever walked past Kath without a short embrace.
“When she came back to work at the start of the summer, I gave her a lift home. It was like driving royalty.”
