Sir Alex Ferguson couldn’t resist telling one of his former Manchester United players that he could take “some shooting tips” from a fellow teammate at Old Trafford.

The 83-year-old legendary former Manchester United manager bowed out of football in 2013 after an illustrious 26-year reign at the Premier League club.

Sir Alex Ferguson would engineer United’s last Premier League title win in the 2012-13 campaign before he retired as Red Devils head coach.

During his time at Old Trafford, the iconic Scotsman dominated English football and ushered in an incredible period of silverware success for the Red Devils.

Ferguson’s accomplishments at the Red Devils included United’s iconic continental treble win in 1999 and lifting all 13 of the club’s Premier League titles.

The legendary Scot is widely regarded as one of the best managers of all time after his managerial spells with United in England and with Aberdeen in Scotland.

What Rafael da Silva did under Sir Alex Ferguson in Man Utd match where Robin van Persie scored vs Liverpool

Sir Alex Ferguson missed out on the Premier League title in the 2011-12 campaign to Manchester City and he made a stunning move for Robin van Persie in 2012.

Robin van Persie signed from Arsenal in 2012 and the 41-year-old Dutch ex-striker played a key role in firing Manchester United to the Premier League title in 2013.

During the 2012-13 Premier League season, United travelled to Anfield in September 2012 and went 1-0 down after the break thanks to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

However, United climbed back into the contest after Rafael da Silva scored a stunning equaliser before Van Persie netted a late penalty to seal a 2-1 win.

Rafael da Silva was set up by Shinji Kagawa before the former United star curled a sensational left-footed strike past former Liverpool No 1 Pepe Reina in the match.

Speaking to FourFourTwo magazine, the 34-year-old Brazilian said: “Man, I’ve never forgotten that day.

“It was the most beautiful goal I scored in my career. It’s difficult to describe the emotion I felt in that match – it was crazy.”

Rafael da Silva recalls what Sir Alex Ferguson made former Man Utd striker Robin van Persie do at Old Trafford

Rafael da Silva admitted that Ferguson teased former Arsenal striker Robin van Persie in training after the Liverpool match and told him to learn from the Brazilian.

The former United defender continued: “I remember that in training the following day, Sir Alex told Robin van Persie to watch my goal back for some shooting tips!

“Everyone was laughing, including Robin, and congratulating me. It was a beautiful goal, though. It’s just a shame that I didn’t do it more often!”

Rafael, who signed for United in 2008 alongside his twin brother Fabio, lifted three Premier League titles and a League Cup during his playing spell at Old Trafford.
