Manchester United youngster Shola Shoretire has sealed a loan move to Bolton Wanderers

Shoretire, 18, expressed excitement at making the first loan move of his career, describing it as ‘exactly what I needed’.

His enthusiasm for the move was matched by Bolton boss Ian Evatt, told their club website that Shoretire can add a lot to their squad.

Evatt is optimistic Shoretire will make a positive contribution to Bolton’s attempts to win promotion to the Championship.

Evatt hails Shoretire

Evatt explained: “He’s a player I’ve been aware of an admired for a long time. We’ve worked extremely hard to get him here.

“It offers us something different. We need different things to win different football matches, especially when teams are in that low block.

“We need someone that can receive centrally, win a one-v-one duel and create, whether it be a pass or a cross or a finish.

“We feel Shola can do that so I’m very excited to have him here.”

Shoretire is United’s top goalscorer at under-21 level and has already featured for the Red Devils first team.

He has managed to provide assists for the first team in pre-season matches, and recently played for the first team in two friendly matches in Spain in December.

Erik ten Hag also selected Shoretire on his bench for a crucial Europa League away game at Real Sociedad in November.

Shoretire will wear Bolton’s number 17 shirt, and hopes this loan move can propel his first team chances at Manchester United.

He is into his third season at Manchester United as an under-21 regular, and really needs this next step as a new challenge.

Whatever the short-term success of his loan spell, it is crucial for his long term development that he experiences regular competitive football, so this deal is very welcome.
