Shea Lacey sends Joe Hugill a three-word message after Man Utd striker confirms loan exit

Joe Hugill has completed his loan move to Wigan, and now he’s sent a message which Manchester United players have responded to.

Manchester United have made the decision to send Joe Hugill on loan once again for the 2024/25 season, despite his goal-scoring appearance against Rangers last weekend.

For a second consecutive season, Hugill has found himself sent out on loan. Last season he was at Burton Albion from January onwards.

This season, he’s agreed to join Wigan, which is a step up from any previous loan. This should mean he is in a better place to impress with Wigan one of the better sides in League One – with his new manager lauding him as a ‘natural goalscorer’.

After the deal was announced, Hugill sent a message which has led to several responses from his Carrington teammates.

Joe Hugill receives messages from Manchester United academy players

After his move to Wigan was confirmed, Hugill took to Instagram with a message. He wrote: “Very excited to be here for the season. Can’t wait to get started!”

Shea Lacey commented: “Good luck brother”, followed by a heart emoji.

Hugill’s fellow striker Ethan Wheatley also sent a message, writing: “Let’s go!”

Gabriele Biancheri added: “Good luck bro”, along with a praising emoji just days after he scored a brace vs Chester.

Habeeb Ogunneye and Toby Collyer both simply commented heart emojis, while Jack Fletcher and James Nolan added clapping emojis.

Finley McAllister commented: “Haway man” with stars in his eyes. Additionally, Shola Shoretire added: “Show them!”, with a heart.

Finally, recently sold defender Willy Kambwala commented: “Let’s go bro”, with two heart emojis.

Hugill is doing it the right way

At 20 years of age, Hugill is doing exactly what he needs to do in order to ensure his career doesn’t stagnate in the youth teams for United.

He needs game-time and with this being his third loan, he’s doing exactly that, with each team he goes to being an upgrade on the last.

Hugill might not be the standard required for United just now, but he is doing everything he can to get to that level.

After scoring in consecutive pre-seasons, Hugill looks ready for a huge season and Wigan could be the recipient of this. We’re excited to see how he gets on.
