Manchester United have struck an agreement that will make Senne Lammens the fifth major signing of the summer window.
Heading into deadline day, it was known that Manchester United wanted to sign a goalkeeper – just not which one.
There was a choice between Senne Lammens and Emiliano Martinez, and despite the latter being a Premier League-proven World Cup winner, Ineos stuck to their original plan and signed the 23-year-old from Royal Antwerp.
United are set to sign Lammens for £18m with the goalkeeper set to arrive in Manchester to complete his medical and finalise the deal.
A picture of Senne Lammens holding up a United shirt will surely follow soon after, but what number will he be given at Old Trafford?

Three shirt number options for Senne Lammens at Man United
The traditional squad number for a goalkeeper is the No.1, but that is currently taken by Altay Bayindir.
However, with reports that Bayindir is “actively” looking for a new club, it cannot be ruled out that he makes a late move. Perhaps even after the deadline day with Turkish and Saudi Arabian still able to conduct transfer business beyond the English deadline.
If Bayindir leaves, the iconic No.1 jersey will be available for Lammens. But he has other options available too.
At Antwerp, Lammens has worn the No.91, and he also wore that number during his time at Club Brugge.
The number 91 is free, and according to Transfermarkt, it has never been worn by a first-team player. Lammens has the opportunity to be the first in club history.
One final option is to take the No.20 shirt recently given up by Diogo Dalot. Previously worn by goalkeeper Sergio Romero, Lammens could follow in his footsteps by taking the number.
Senne Lammens has an incredibly tough start at Man United
Confidence in both Andre Onana and Bayindir has reached an all-time low at United, so fans will hope to see Lammens in action as soon as possible.
However, the 23-year-old’s resilience and mentality will be put to the toughest of tests if he starts in United’s next Premier League match.
A Manchester derby against Manchester City is up next for United after the international break. It would be a huge challenge for Lammens to step in and start against Pep Guardiola’s side on his debut.

After that, Chelsea travel to Old Trafford in the Premier League, which is bound to be another big test for Amorim’s side.
But United need a goalkeeper capable of thriving in the spotlight, so perhaps Amorim will want to test Lammens and his character by throwing him straight into the deep end.
