Scott McTominay’s comments after Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea have suggested that Erik ten Hag has made one vital change.
Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay scored twice for the Red Devils in a crucial victory for Erik ten Hag’s side against Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea.
Erik Ten Hag has been roundly criticised for his managerial decisions for the Red Devils this season but also for the injury issues that United have gone through this season.
The club has had multiple injuries this season, with muscular problems being a theme amongst players at Old Trafford this season.

McTominay’s comments
Speaking after the game to Amazon Prime, McTominay made a rather important comment in the wake of the win over the Blues at Old Trafford.
“To be honest with you, the manager. The way he approached this game. A lot of light training sessions, to keep us fresh,” the Scottish midfielder said when asked about the Dutchman’s managerial performance.
Pochettino was hoping to get one over the Dutchman and United after he was shunned for the Old Trafford job back in April of 2022.
The Argentine was interviewed for the managerial job, according to The Athletic but in the end, the Red Devils hierarchy decided to go for the former Ajax boss.
Injury workload
The Red Devils, as mentioned, have had terrible luck with injuries this season and as time went on and the list of absentees grew by the week, fans quickly decided that the Dutchman was to blame.
It was hard to disagree with the fanbase when these theories about why the club were going through so many injuries surfaced but it seems like Ten Hag has finally atoned for his errors.
The Manchester Evening News, which are one of the four banned news organisations from Ten Hag’s press conference, reported that certain players were unhappy with how heavy the training schedules were for the Red Devils.
If McTominay is to be believed, however, then the Red Devils boss has chosen to lighten the players’ workload ahead of a busy month.
United certainly looked a lot fitter against the Blues and the hope will be that this new regime is perservered with.
