Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt reacted in the exact opposite way to Manchester United signing either Sandro Tonali or Aurelien Tchouameni in the summer window.
The Red Devils have only one Premier League match left in the 2025-26 campaign, with Manchester United travelling to the Amex on the final day of the season.
United have already ensured that they will finish third in the Premier League table this season ahead of their encounter with Brighton on late Sunday afternoon.
However, the Red Devils are already looking ahead to a busy summer transfer window, with a huge midfield rebuild high on the priority list for Ineos.

How do you really feel about Man United’s Sandro Tonali interest?
Is he who we need in midfield?🇮🇹
Man Utd legends Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt’s reactions to Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali spoke volumes
Manchester United have had several key names attached to their midfield overhaul this summer, including both Sandro Tonali and Aurelien Tchouameni.
Sandro Tonali has impressed at Newcastle since his 2023 arrival from AC Milan and the 26-year-old Italian midfielder has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.
The Italy international is under contract with the Magpies until 2028, but it has been reported that Newcastle could demand a hefty £87m fee for Tonali this summer.
Paul Scholes said in a clip on The Good, The Bad & The Football’s social media channels that he would sign Tonali for United if he had the chance to do so.
However, the United legend did not have the support of Nicky Butt with his verdict, with Scholes’ former teammate suggesting that he does not want Tonali at the club.
What are your thoughts on the ‘fights’ between Tchouameni and Valverde… does this present an opportunity for United? Or is this a bad omen for a transfer?
Would Tchouameni be the right fit for United's dressing room?
Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt could not agree on whether Man Utd should sign Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni
Aurelien Tchouameni has been tipped as a potential replacement for Casemiro in the summer after the 26-year-old French defensive midfielder’s success at Real Madrid.
Casemiro will leave Man Utd in the summer once his contract expires and Ineos are exploring a replacement for the 34-year-old Brazilian defensive midfielder now.
Tchouameni stepped up in a major way as Casemiro’s heir apparent at Madrid and the France international is under contract with Los Blancos until 2028.
Butt threw his full backing behind Man Utd in trying to sign Tchouameni in the summer, while Scholes pushed back and said that he does not want the midfielder.
