Ruben Amorim’s ‘next season’ at Man Utd ‘would be different’ with three signings, Owen Hargreaves names players needed

Owen Hargreaves has suggested that Ruben Amorim could have a transformative impact at Manchester United if the Red Devils bring three players to Old Trafford.

Ruben Amorim left his native homeland in 2024 after he made his exit from Sporting CP and he arrived at Old Trafford last November as Manchester United manager.

The 40-year-old former Sporting CP boss took charge at the Premier League club in the 2024-25 season after Erik ten Hag was sacked as United manager last October.

Erik ten Hag endured a disastrous start to the current Premier League campaign and even Amorim has struggled to turn around the Red Devils’ poor run of form.

The Red Devils languish in 14th place in the Premier League and United’s 1-0 loss to Wolves at Old Trafford on Sunday was their 15th league defeat of the season.

United are tipped for their worst finish in the table in the Premier League era and the Red Devils’ hopes for European football hinge on their Europa League campaign.

United are in the semi-finals of the 2024-25 Europa League tournament and lifting the trophy would secure Champions League football for the 2025-26 campaign.

Owen Hargreaves identifies three transfer targets that Man Utd should consider for Ruben Amorim

Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents, Owen Hargreaves has urged Manchester United to consider three players as potential summer transfer targets for Ruben Amorim.

The 44-year-old former United and England midfielder’s picks included Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Super Lig side Galatasaray.

United have been heavily linked with Victor Osimhen and Napoli are believed to be ready to cash in on the 26-year-old Nigerian striker in the summer transfer window.

Hargreaves has also suggested that Wolves star Matheus Cunha should be on the transfer radar for the Red Devils alongside Nigeria international Osimhen.

Matheus Cunha has attracted the interest of United and the 25-year-old Brazilian forward is tipped to leave Wolves, despite being under contract until 2029.

Hargreaves’ third and final pick was Brazilian defensive midfielder Ederson, who is currently playing for Atalanta and has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

“If you added Victor Osimhen, Matheus Cunha, and Ederson from Atalanta, Man United would be different next season,” he said, as per Man Utd News.

Ruben Amorim breaks his silence over Man Utd’s transfer business in the upcoming summer window

Speaking after United’s 1-0 defeat to Wolves, Amorim insisted that the Red Devils are already discussing what business will be done in the summer transfer window.

“We will see everything,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“We have to look at everything, our squad and what we need to improve, the opportunities that we have on the market.

“We have everything [under discussion]. We talked about that [financial backing]. We talk every day about the next season.

“So, we are doing everything with time. We will get the effort we need to improve the team.”

Bournemouth will host United on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League clash at the Vitality Stadium, with kick-off slated for 2pm UK time.
