BBC Sport pundit Troy Deeney singled out one “consistent” Manchester United player under manager Ruben Amorim in his Premier League Team of the Week.
Manchester United and Manchester City walked away with a Premier League point apiece after Sunday’s Manchester derby result at Old Trafford.
Neither Ruben Amorim’s men nor Pep Guardiola’s side could break the deadlock over the course of the 90 minutes in the 0-0 Premier League draw.
Both United and City lacked the clinical finishing touch in the final third and the Manchester derby was a largely uneventful and forgettable contest.
The Red Devils languish in 13th place in the Premier League table under United manager Amorim with seven league matches remaining in the 2024-25 campaign.
United have picked up 10 wins in the Premier League over the course of the season and could finish in their worst position in the table since the league’s formation.

Why Troy Deeney included Man Utd star Noussair Mazraoui in BBC Sport’s Premier League Team of the Week
Noussair Mazraoui started in the three-man backline of Ruben Amorim’s tactical system for Manchester United and he played the full 90 minutes on Sunday.
The 27-year-old defender was deployed as the right-sided centre-back and Noussair Mazraoui impressed United fans with his performance against Manchester City.
Mazraoui arrived at Old Trafford last summer after United signed him in a combined double swoop alongside former Ajax and Bayern Munich teammate Matthijs de Ligt.
The Morocco defender has been consistent for the Red Devils and has often shown his versatility for United by playing in different positions on the pitch this season.
Troy Deeney insisted that former Ajax and Bayern Munich star Mazraoui is the type of player who will be “under the radar” for his performances after the City match.
“Becoming Manchester United’s most consistent defender, goes under the radar but makes a lot of last-ditch tackles – the one he made on Phil Foden kept them in the game,” he told BBC Sport.
What Ruben Amorim liked about Man Utd’s performance against Manchester City at Old Trafford
Speaking after the final Manchester derby of the season, Amorim insisted that United players showed their ability to function better in his tactical system.
“You can see it, [same] as me, the team is more comfortable,” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.
“The positions, we can make better connections, we are pushing the opponents sometimes to the last third.
“We are defending and blocking the talented players like Manchester City have.
“I think we blocked most of the chances; they didn’t create much. They had the ball, but without danger, so we are improving.”
United now take on Lyon at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais in France for the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash on Thursday evening.
