Manchester United fans wasted no time reacting to Noussair Mazraoui after his performance against Manchester City in the Premier League showdown at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils returned to Premier League action on Sunday and Ruben Amorim’s men tasted defeat on their last outing in the league before the Manchester derby.

Nottingham Forest hosted Manchester United at City Ground on Tuesday evening and Nuno Espirito Santo’s men sealed all three Premier League points.

Anthony Elanga was the difference-maker for City Ground and United were left chasing the Premier League match against Nottingham Forest earlier this week.

United have struggled in the 2024-25 Premier League season and not even Ruben Amorim’s arrival from Sporting CP in 2024 has led to a turnaround in results.

Ahead of City’s arrival at Old Trafford, United won only 10 matches in 30 Premier League matches and the Red Devils started the match in 13th place in the table.

United are currently on course for their worst league finish in the Premier League era and the Red Devils could miss out on a European qualification spot.

Ruben Amorim’s hopes of securing European football for the 2025-26 season can still be achieved through United’s progression in their Europa League campaign.

Man Utd fans’ telling reaction to Noussair Mazraoui’s display vs Man City in the Premier League clash at Old Trafford

Noussair Mazraoui started against Manchester City and the 27-year-old was deployed as the right-sided centre-back in Ruben Amorim’s tactical system.

The 27-year-old former Ajax and Bayern Munich star received incredible praise from Manchester United fans on social media over his display in the Manchester derby.

A Red Devils supporter on X, formerly known as Twitter, claimed that defender Mazraoui has now “locked down” one position under United manager Amorim.

One X user wrote: “I’m honestly at a loss for words to fully capture just how incredible Mazraoui is, both in quality and presence. An absolute gem on and off the pitch.”

Someone else tweeted: “Mazraoui is absolutely fantastic to watch.”

“Mazraoui is the only player in the squad who retains possession,” another claimed.

While a fourth United fan said: “Mazraoui [is] such a baller.”

And a fifth posted: “We don’t have too many positives to take from this season obviously, but signing Mazraoui has been a good thing.”

Another simply commented: “Mazraoui? Sensational.”

“Mazraoui has locked down that RCB position. Solid guy,” a seventh Red Devils supporter claimed.

Somebody else suggested: “Mazraoui deserves his flowers.”

What happened in Man Utd vs Man City in the Manchester derby match at Old Trafford?

Neither United nor City were able to break the deadlock in a largely uneventful first half of the Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils had their chances before half-time in the Manchester derby, but Amorim’s men were unable to capitalise on their opportunities.

Patrick Dorgu and Alejandro Garnacho were both wasteful in the final third, while City struggled to break through the United defence in the first half at Old Trafford.

United and City could not break the deadlock in the second half and both sides walked away with a Premier League point each from the 0-0 draw.

United will now turn their attention to their crucial Europa League campaign on Thursday evening with their first-leg encounter with Ligue 1 outfit Lyon.

Lyon host the Red Devils at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais in the quarter-finals of the Europa League before United welcome the French side to Old Trafford on 17th April.
