Ruben Amorim is in a trickier spot than he ever might have imagined at Manchester United, stuck down in 14th place.
New head coach Ruben Amorim is in the midst of a storm at Manchester United, one that he predicted and saw coming.
Amorim warned a tough spell was due after the 4-0 win over Everton to start the month, and five defeats have followed, along with two wins.
One constant moan Amorim has had is a lack of time on the training pitch, amid a constant barrage of games, with little time to try and instill his preferred system into his players.

Ruben Amorim appointment timing has made it difficult
Ruben Amorim arrived mid-season at Manchester United, and has been determined to implement his favoured wing-back system.
Amorim insists that deviation from the plan to achieve short-term stability will set the team back long-term.
In his pre-Newcastle press conference, Amorim was quizzed about the timing of his appointment.
The two insinuations are that Ineos bodged it, by not appointing him in the summer – or alternatively could have stuck with an interim hire until summer 2025.
He knows he must deliver some results in the short-term, to get the time he needs to turn United around.
Amorim had no time for this, responding: “There is no point to talk or think about that. I am here and I have to focus on the job, it is part of football to have these difficult moments and I already knew this was going to be tough.
“If course you expect to win more games to have players with more confidence to sell the idea and to work and to improve a lot of things.
“In this moment it’s really hard. Like I said, we have to survive to have time, and then improve the team.”

Amorim accepts his situation
Ruben Amorim is determined to look forward and not back, and accepts the situation he finds himself in at Old Trafford. He is embracing the danger that comes with it.
He added: “The manager of Manchester United can never, no matter what, be comfortable. I know the business that I am in.
“I know that if we do not win – regardless if they paid the buyout or not – I know that every manager is in danger and I like that, because that is our job.
“So I understand the question. You can say that I have been here a month and I have had four training [sessions], but we are not winning. So I have that; that is a reality, and I am quite comfortable with that.”
Manchester United fans are braced for more bad results, with upcoming games against three top teams, Newcastle, Liverpool and Arsenal, the latter two away from home.
Amorim’s cool, calm and collected take shows he is not panicking, and you would hope this translates to the players – however, they may need some urgency, if they don’t realise, they are fighting for their futures too.
